Thornburg is a city in Keokuk County, Iowa, United States. The population was 67 at the 2010 census. ==History== The Burlington, Cedar Rapids and Northern Railway built a 66-mile branch to What Cheer via Thornburg in 1879〔Report of the Burlington, Cedar Rapids & Northern Railway Company for the year ending June 30, 1880, (Third Annual Report of the Board of Railroad Commissioners for the Year Ending June 30, 1880 ), Mills, Des Moines, 1880; page 133.〕 The town was founded by the railroad and named in memory of Major Thomas T.
